Launch of PREP - the Provincial Research Ethics Platform
Early this fall, RISe will become the home of the new platform for harmonized ethical reviews in BC. This will enable further streamlining of multi-jurisdictional reviews between UBC's REBs and other provincial partners using a single application to review research ethics. For current users, RISe functioning will remain similar. Minimal changes include:
- Improved usability of the RISe system, including pop-up windows for more information rather than lots of text in the questions. This provides an overall cleaner look to the application.
- Automatic selection by the system of the Research Ethics Board that will conduct the main review (Board of Record). Based on information provided in the application, the system will select which UBC-affiliated board the application is sent to for review.
- The application includes a new branch-off for research with Indigenous peoples.
The changes will be in place early this fall. Before then, we ask all researchers to take the time to update their RISe profiles as the information in your profile will be used to help decide where your application is reviewed. Click here for instructions on updating your profile.
We are looking forward to a time in the near future when all harmonized ethical reviews in the province will be housed in RISe for ease of communication between institutions, researchers and administrators.
